Colorado Family Vacation Photography

From Peru to Colorado. Capturing a winter family vacation from Denver to the Great Sand Dunes

What better way to celebrate your first visit to a new country than with family photos capturing the spirit of your vacation, cherished memories and all of the new experiences. That’s exactly what this family did coming all the way from Peru in their first visit to Colorado.

I’ve worked in Peru for 15+ years. I first went at the age of 13 with my parents and fell in love with the beautiful culture, mysterious history, diversity, rainforest and incredibly beautiful topogography of the Andes. I even ended up doing my Master’s research and fields in Cultural Anthropology for my thesis in this beautiful country.

Then I began guiding trips there. On one of my early trips, I was paired with an assistant to help me navigate the mountains. Little did I know, he would be come my best friend and brother. I even have my own area in his home these days. For so many years, we’ve built an incredible relationship and he opened up so many doors in Peru inviting me in and making me feel like a part of this special pocket.

Fast forward-and it was finally time for him to bring his family to the U.S. They had saved money for years to visit us in Colorado. They came in the dead of winter but were really excited to experience a true powdery white snow. And boy did it deliver. During their trip temps plummeted to -20 degrees for several days. An arctic blast. They got the full winter experience. It was so special to finally host his family and show him around my home and state. We visited several areas around the Front Range along with Buena Vista, Salida, The Great Sand Dunes, Leadville, Boulder and Indian Peaks. I was tasked to capture some of those precious moments in a heartfelt and memorable way. Especially for the kids who can look back one day and relive their first time rolling in snow and building a snow cave in my backyard. That’s why photos are so incredibly powerful. Freezing moments during vacation and preserving them forever into treasured memories. Living life, experiencing new places and meeting new people all awhile I find momemts of magic in between. It’s more like a documentary of your vacation.

If you’re coming from Peru or even Kansas and want me to capture the spirit of your family vacation, I would be honored. I will find those precious moments that might get lost forever. I promise you, it’s an invaluable keepsake. Book your Colorado family vacation photography!
