I focus on candid, unscripted moments. Guests laughing, connecting, and enjoying themselves, complemented by a few well-organized, forward-facing group portraits. Together, these create a vibrant, meaningful collection that honors your employees, friends, family, or community.

My approach blends ‘fly on the wall’ documentary style with a warm, easygoing presence, so guests feel comfortable, and nothing feels forced. You get to relax and enjoy the celebration, while I capture the magic of the event or party.

Why Hiring a Professional Event Photographer Matters:

Whether it’s a company celebration, team retreat, conference, or family gathering, these are the moments that tell the real story of your organization. The people, the energy, the shared purpose behind the work. Having a professional photographer there means those stories get told with intention, vibrancy & authenticity.

A skilled event photographer like me knows how to move quietly through a crowd, anticipate emotion, and find the small, genuine interactions that reflect your brand’s culture. These images become more than merely snapshots. They become part of your visual identity. They help you showcase authentic connection on your website, shareable content for marketing, and a sense of pride among your team.

From genuine laughter to more polished, natural group portraits, great event photography helps your company look professional and human. It’s an investment in storytelling. One that pays off every time someone visits your website, scrolls your feed, or remembers what it felt like to be seen and a valuable member of your team or special & loved part of your family or community.

A representative from CONMED, a Denver company reached out to see if I could provide documentary-style photography coverage for their Summer event and party. It would be with all of their employees along with their families and children. It was a perfect venue with lots of space to roam and mingle. The party had face-painting, corn hole, a full bar, a large seating area, a catered buffet and large yard games. For photography, it was great as everyone was spaced out doing their thing playing games, sipping drinks and chatting. I roamed for a few hours sometimes taking a fly on the wall approach and other times getting right in there and interacting with everyone to get some great portraits an candid moments of fun and celebration.

It’s not all serious business in the corporate world. It’s always special time make time for a little bit of fun in the sun. That’s exactly what TalentReef, a Denver business does for its employees a few times a year. They throw a party!

This was the second time I was asked to photographer their seasonal event. Last time, it was in the winter-so this go around, it was fun to get outside in the sun and enjoy the beautiful warm day and blue skies. And who knew Cherry Creek Reservoir could almost make it look like you are at the beach? I spent a few hours roaming around, interacting with employees and capturing candid documentary-style photography of their summer party. The idea was to find images of joy and celebration. Not overly curated-just everyone enjoying themselves. There was corn hole, a raffle, bar games, fun & friendly little competitions along with just louging in the sand at Pelican Bay.

  • Large, fun family portrait at 70s themed 50th wedding anniversary birthday event at home in Lookout Mountain Golden, Colorado. Ryan Kost event photography

Lookout Mountain Golden, Colorado | 70s Themed 50th Wedding Anniversary House Party

My parents’ neighbors, Jon and Jan, invited me up to their home on Lookout Mountain in Golden, Colorado to photograph something really special—their 50th wedding anniversary. But this wasn’t your typical anniversary gathering.

They decided to throw it back to their heyday and host a full-on 70s-themed house party. Tie-dye, bell bottoms, peace signs, and classic rock filled the room. Honestly, who doesn’t love a good 70s party?

It was such a creative and joyful way to celebrate 50 years of marriage. Even Jon’s 94-year-old mom flew in from Texas to join the fun. The house was buzzing with laughter, familiar faces, and a lot of love. My own parents were there—decked out in their best groovy getups—along with my wife, and it was a blast seeing everyone let loose, dance, and share stories.

The night was full of beautiful, heartfelt moments—some hilarious, some deeply moving. There were incredible speeches honoring not just Jon and Jan’s love story, but the friendships and community they’ve built around them. It was a reminder of how meaningful it is to celebrate life’s big milestones with the people who’ve been there along the way.

  • Winners of annual dog costume contest celebrate with howling dog at Recess Bar in Denver, Colorado. Ryan Kost Photography

Recess Bar Denver, Colorado | Dog Costume Contest Winner Event Photography

Erik from Breakthru Bev in Denver reached out with a fun idea: could I photograph the winners of a Halloween dog costume contest they ran for Tito’s Vodka? The prize? A free dog photoshoot at Recess Beer Garden in the Highlands. Casual, candid, and full of playful vibes.

The goal was to create lighthearted, lifestyle-style content for Tito’s, while also giving these winning humans (and their pup) a memorable experience.

By the time I arrived, the two best friends who won were already in high spirits, Tito’s cocktails in hand, feeling maybe just a tad tipsy and thoroughly enjoying themselves. This made for a really fun vibe to kick things off. Their dog was just as much of a character, happily posing for treats and soaking up all the attention. We wandered through the bar, pausing for fun, unscripted moments: sipping drinks, clinking glasses, sneaking the pup some fries under the table. The energy was light and playful, and it felt more like hanging out with old friends than a “session.”

Just a crisp bluebird sky Colorado fall afternoon, a sunny patio, good drinks, and people loving on their dog. They danced. They howled together. They posed on the patio furniture and fed their dog lots and lots of french fries.

Aspire Tours, a Denver guiding and tour operator wanted to host a fun event for their employees by getting them outside and spending quality time together.

They decided to do an overnight hiking and cmaping trip to Finch Lake in beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park.

It was a wonderful celebration of the company and their employees. We hiked under beautiful Colorado blue skies and enjoyed lots of games, good conversation, snow ball fights and some laying around in hammocks. I provided documentary-style event photography to showcase the company, highlight its employees and also show off the incredible beauty of the Colorado Rockies in Summer.

  • Whitewater rafting adventure. Action packed, Colorado outdoor company event celebration photography captured by Ryan Kost

Arkansas River Buena Vista, Colorado | Whitewater Rafting Event Photography

A real glimpse into a whitewater rafting celebration on the Arkansas River, captured between Buena Vista and Salida, Colorado.

This gallery follows the raw, up-close action packed and joyful moments of a day out on the Brown’s Canyon National Monument section.

Hosted by a local Colorado outdoor adventure and rafting company, this day on the Arkansas River brought guides and friends together for a mix of whitewater, downtime, and time spent basking in the beauty of the Rocky Mountains in the summertime. From the rapids of Browns Canyon to more mellow stretches near Salida, it was a chance to slow down, be outside, and share what this work is really about.

I documented two full days on the river to capture the people behind the paddles. It so happens that I used to be a river guide many years ago and grew up paddling with my parents, so I have a special affinity for being out in the rapids.

My aim was to give a true look at what a real day on the river feels like for clients who book with this outfitter. My approach is to dive in, stay close to the action, and tell the story with grit, energy, and authenticity. It's brand storytelling made for outdoor companies who want to take their marketing to the next level.
