Waneka Lake Park – Lafayette, Colorado Large Family Photography

Celebrating 75th Birthday and legacy with a fall photo session filled with love and connection

This large fall family session at Lake Waneka Park in Lafayette, Colorado was everything I love about photographing families. It was relaxed and easy, full of laughter and genuine connection.

The golden leaves were at their peak, the light was soft with a moody overcast day, the lake was placid, and the air had autumn crisp October feel. But what made it memorable was how loving this family was

They came to celebrate mom (or grandma’s) 75th birthday, and they brought all the joy, playfulness, and presence you could hope for.

From the first moments, they welcomed me in like I was part of the family.

We wandered the park and lake getting a mix of some formal posed shots, but then quickly turned our attention to simply capturing those genuine moments. There were silly games, playground time, slices of pizza under the picnic shelter, candles blown out with grandkids by her side, and a deep, visible sense of love layered into every interaction.

It’s not always about posing perfectly or smiling at the camera, it’s about making space for real moments to unfold and letting the photos hold those memories for generations to come.

If you’re looking to celebrate another lap around the sun, or throw a surprise birthday party, or you just want to get the entire family together for a picnic or celebration, I’m here to help you tell your story and capture those precious moments. Reserve your family photo session!

Here’s what Stephanie had to say about their family’s experience with me:

Working with Ryan was an overall great experience. Not only is he kind and professional, but the pictures turned out better than we could have imagined! I chose Ryan to capture photos of our family because of his behind the camera experience and because of his genuine and welcoming personality. He felt like part of the family. So happy about the experience on picture day as well as the pictures we’ll enjoy forever!”
