Rachel reached out wanting to capture some beautiful, natural family photos and memories with their Au Pair Grace before she left for home back in Mexico.
Grace had spent a year living with them in Colorado growing close with the family and their two daughters. She would be heading home a week later and they all wanted to spend one last time together enjoying their beautiful bond and family.
We decided on Mount Falcon West for it’s beautiful backdrop and perfect golden hour light that really showcases that Colorado feel. Rachel and Andrew moved from Phoenix, Arizona a year prior and wanted photos that showcased their new home state as well.
When we met, it was unusualy pouring down rain. We decided to hang in our cars and wait it out to see what would unfold. Just as we were about to reschedule we looked at the radar and decided to give it a go. I’m so glad we did! The rain quickly moved out leaving incredible natural light. The air had that autumn chill to it gives you that visceral feeling connected to the changing of the seasons.
I could immediately tell how adored Grace was. She was officially part of the family. The way they interacted was beautiful and bittersweet as she only had a few days left with them. I spent time speaking Spanish with Grace telling her I had worked in Latin America for 15+ years and how much I loved mexican culture and food.
We soaked up the special time together and moved around chasing the light and special moments together. Their daughters were born for the spotlight working it for the camera and picking flowers. It was a really beautiful sesssion with serendiptous magical light. Another life lesson of patience and waiting it out a bit and then enjoying the splendor.
