Oaxaca, Mexico Mezcal Brand & Marketing Photography

Documentary-style storytelling capturing the spirit of ancestral mezcal production and the people behind the craft.

Down a dirt road in rural Oaxaca, we made our way towards a small farm.

What began as a hesitant stop quickly turned into a warm welcome from Miguel, a mezcalero who invited us into his distillery, poured us a taste of mezcal pechuga, and opened the door to a world of tradition and connection.

Miguel greeted us right away with a warmth that felt like home. He showed us his distillery and poured us mezcal straight from the stills, including a wild one called pechuga, redistilled with fruit, grains, nuts, and yes, even a raw chicken breast hung over the still. Strange as it sounds, it was one of the most interesting and delicious spirits I’ve ever tasted.

Before long he was on the phone calling a friend down the road who was just starting up his own palenque. We drove a few minutes further and found ourselves at the very first distillation in a brand new still being built in the ancestral way. We spent hours there tasting, laughing, sharing stories with these men and their dog Luna. They gave us their time, their mezcal, and their friendship. We even left with one of the very first bottles to ever come out of that place, a gift I’ll hold on to for the rest of my life. In return, I offered up my photography to help market their new brand through beautiful and authentic images of this special day.

At some point, between sips and stories, Placido shared with us that he had just lost his son and his mother within days of each other. We hugged him tight and felt the gravity of what mezcal really is — not just a drink, but a connection to land, spirit, and people. Something sacred.

It was one of those afternoons that fills you up in ways you can’t put a price on. The kind of serendipity you only stumble into when you stay curious and open. Strangers turned into friends, and we celebrated life together until the sun slipped below the horizon.

And this is exactly why I approach photography the way I do. Whether it’s a family, a couple, or a brand, I’m not interested in stiff poses or surface-level images. I want to capture the kind of presence, connection, and authenticity that you can actually feel. The kind that tells your story, in all its grit and beauty, so people don’t just see what you do, they understand who you are.

If that’s how you want your story told, that’s where I come in. Take your brand to the next level and book your photographer today!
